Schneider Electric is hosting our 9th annual Go Green in the City challenge this year! The competition can be entered by Bachelor or Masters students all over the world, as they provide their solutions to some of the most crucial issues in the sustainable energy industry. The application deadline is May 25th, and winners of the contest will be awarded with exciting post-grad job offers from Schneider Electric and a trip to our Global Innovation Summit in Barcelona!

What Is The Challenge?

Now that the challenge is entering its 9th year, we are looking to go bigger, better, and bolder! Schneider Electric is looking for students who are willing to put their skills and ideas to the test by solving one of our four real-life case challenges within energy management or submit their plan for efficient energy management in a city environment. The four categories of real-life challenges include Sustainability and Access to Energy, Buildings of the Future, Plants of the Future, and Grids of the Future.

Who Is Eligible?

Go Green in the City 2019 is open to two-member teams all over the world, but there are three important criteria that participants must meet. First, both members must be a Bachelor’s or Master’s student at least in their 2nd year. Second, both team members must be studying in the same regions for the duration of the competition. And lastly, at least one team member must be a woman to be in line with our Diversity and Inclusion philosophy.

What Could You Win?

As mentioned above, the winning team will be awarded the opportunity to work with Schneider Electric after graduation. The team will also win an all-inclusive international trip to two cities of their choice (in locations with Schneider Electric offices.) The top eight teams will be invited to a fully sponsored trip to the Global Innovation Summit in Barcelona to pitch for the Grand Prize, and these members will have the chance to interview for Schneider Electric’s coveted Internship Program. Lastly, one all-female team that makes it to the semi-finals will win the Women in Energy Award, which secures them a place in the finals and a cash prize of $1,000!

The application deadline is just about two weeks away (May 25,) so be sure to submit your application and sign up for the challenge now! The Regional Semi-Finals take place from May 27 to June 14, then the Mentoring Process and Regional Finals take place from June 19 to August 23, then the Preparation Place will be from August 29 to September 28, which all leads up to the Grand Finale on October 1-5, 2019.
