Spotlight Project: The Wharf DC
Schneider Electric is proud to be providing a campus-wide building management system (BMS) for a monumental project in Washington, DC. The Wharf DC is a 24-acre waterfront neighborhood containing apartments, hotels, offices, shops, concert venues, and brings hip new restaurants, year-round entertainment and waterside style in one convenient location. It’s the new, most exciting neighborhood in the nation’s capital.
About The Wharf
The new neighborhood features over 3 million building square feet of mixed-use development and 2,600 parking spaces, making it the largest project of its kind in Washington DC’s history. Some of the work of this project includes relocating a 127-year-old yacht club and restoring a 200-year-old fish market in the Wharf District. Upon completion, it will feature over 1,400 waterfront residences, three hotels and over 75 shops and restaurants. The campus will include 14 buildings with each building being design by a different architect.
Schneider Electric’s Contribution
Schneider Electric was awarded the first component of the project back in 2015. The first phase of the project is set to be complete this month, October of 2017, and the second phase will continue over the next four years through 2021. Schneider Electric will provide a campus-wide building management system by using our EcoStruxure product line. We will control various systems including Energy Recovery Ventilators, domestic hot water, stairwell pressurization, VRFs, and micro-turbine generators through BACnet and Modbus protocols. The underground parking garage stretches below six buildings in the campus and will be monitored using CO and NO2 sensors for garage monitoring and ventilation. We will continue our efforts in the retail spaces with tenant fit-outs to customize each space as necessary.
