Angelos Law Center

Baltimore, MD
Baltimore’s First LEED Platinum Building
Provided turnkey building management system and trained building staff

This new, award-winning facility provides innovative learning spaces for University of Baltimore (UB) School of Law students. The 192,000 sq ft 12-story project includes 15 classrooms, 29 group study spaces, a 32,000 sq ft library, and a 300-seat court classroom. It also houses all UB’s clinical services and law-related offices. Unique features of this highly efficient building include an integrated shade control system to maximize the use of natural light, green roofs and terraces, state-of-the art heating and cooling technologies, and a rainwater capture and re-use system.

We provided the building’s turnkey building management system (BMS), our Andover Continuum BACnet line of DDC controllers and management software, with over 3,700 hardwired I/O and software interface points. The systems integrated into the Andover Continuum front end include an extensive 180 zone radiant slab system, a LON based window control system to adjust more than 400 window actuators, and a BACnet based motorized shade control system to modulate over 200 building shades. We partnered closely with the building’s owner through the extensive commissioning process, which included providing product training to the building staff to facilitate a smooth transition from construction to normal building operations. This project began in June 2010, and the Angelos Law Center opened on April 30, 2013.
