Holy Cross Hospital
New LEED Gold designed 237,000 sq ft full-service hospital
Provided the turnkey building management system and product training
Holy Cross Hospital, which incorporates some of the latest technological advances, was designed to provide a positive and comfortable healing environment for patients. The 237,000 sq ft, 6-story building includes a full-service emergency department, 15-bed intensive care unit, and two 30-bed non-intensive care units. It also includes full service operating suites, a comprehensive inpatient maternity center, and an eight-bed neonatal intensive care unit.
We were the turnkey provider of the building management system (BMS), with over 2,200 hardwired I/O and software interface points. The hospital selected our EcoStruxure solution and our BACnet line of DDC controllers and management software. The systems integrated into the EcoStruxure front-end included Phoenix Venturi air valves—in laboratory and operating spaces—a 23-zone lighting control system, fuel oil and generator controls, and control of medical vacuum, medical air, and instrument air systems. In addition to the installation, we provided product training to the building staff, on site and at one of our three dedicated product training facilities, to enable a smooth transition from construction to normal building operation. Construction began in October 2013 and the building opened in October 2014.
Saint Elizabeth’s Psychiatric Hospital
New 450,000 sq ft facility with environmentally sensitive design and sustainable strategies

This new building required a unique security plan that integrated patient safety, staff security, and community access, while being mindful of the urban, southeast Washington setting. The building’s design includes living and treatment areas, green spaces off each unit, and enclosed courtyards. The 28,000 sq ft green roof is one of the largest of any psychiatric facility in the country.
The DC Department of Mental Health turned to us to provide the following critical security infrastructure:
- Andover Continuum Physical Access Control Systems (PACS)
- Master Command Center with seven workstations
- 238 CCTV cameras consisting of both analog cameras and matrix
